Face Canyon, Lake Powell, Arizona
John Wesley Powell, the audacious 19th century explorer and naturalist, mapped the massive Colorado River watershed and navigated spectacular side canyons. For future travelers, he named the unknown slots and peaks based on his capricious observation. Now his namesake, this magnificent man-made reservoir renders access to these remote canyons by sea worthy water craft captained by those with adventurous skill and a sailor’s wit.
